Model Making

A sci-fi cargo bay model by Andy Slater

Over the years I've been interested in various genres of model making. In the last few years however I have done more wargames terrain than anything else.

Ork Bar - A Wargaming Model by Andy SlaterI'm not an avid gamer, although I would probably play more if I could find a bunch of people who were actually interested in playing properly i.e. by the rules. The things that appeal to me about wargames terrain are:

1. Wargames terrain lends itself to small projects. That's because, from a gaming point of view, it's good to be able to arrange things differently each time you play. Of course it also means that the models will fit reasonable easily onto shelves for display.

2. The opportunity to model fantasy and sci-fi subjects. Most other model making is about making things as accurate and lifelike as possible. You can do that with wargames terrain if you like, but you can also go crazy with it; and as you can see from the images on this page, I enjoy that.

Since 2006 I've been the owner/administrator of TerraGenesis, a resource and community for people who are into making model terrain. If it has any appeal, come over and check it out.

A model tree with white metal skullsSomething else that I have going on at the moment is that I recently did a sculpt of some skulls, for use as wargaming accessories. The image here shows some of them in use to adorn a model tree. I'm selling the skulls via http://ajs-metals.com/
