VW Links

Links to my stuff

My VWs are amongst the things I've rattled on about in my blog and these first links are to some of what I consider to be amongst my most useful entries:

Engine Oil For Old Dubs - How I decided to use Duckhams Q 20w50.

Tyre Pressures & Karma - What are the correct tyre pressures and should you swap the wheels around.

Urethane Parts For Beetles - Why I've decided not to use them.

Thoughts About Paint - What I'll be using and why.

Links to other stuff

The following are links to other things that I reckon are worth knowing about if you are interested in old VWs:

Bug Me Videos - Read this, then go buy them. I can't recommend these DVDs highly enough. They are superb.

Frost - All those wonderful tools that you see being using in the Bug Me Vidoes (see above), available right here in the UK.

GSF - Not such a big range as the likes of VW Heritage (see below) but because GSF have depots all over the country my experience is that they can get most things that they list in from another depot within a couple of days. The mail order department will call stuff in from any depot as required but if you plan to visit a depot, phone first to make sure they have what you want at that particular depot.

Rob & Dave's Aircooled Volkswagen Pages - Let me put it this way: go there, and read about something you always wanted to know more about. After that you'll be a fan and wish you'd found the site sooner.

SSP - The sister company of VW Heritage (see below).

VW Heritage - If these guys, or their sister company SSP (see above), don't have it then it probably isn't available. Get their catalogues and phone them if you have a question - they generally know their stuff. Unfortunately they don't always have everything they list in stock and you sometimes have to wait a while.

Vehicle Wiring Products - The best selection I've seen and you can buy coloured wire by the metre; so there's no more excuses for using the wrong colour. They also sell brake pipes plus all the fittings and tools.

VZi Forums - The best place to ask those questions to which you just can't find an answer. Note that the forums move pretty fast i.e. it's and ask a question and check back a couple of hours (as opposed to days) later, kind of place.
